Nigel Richards (officer)

Major General Nigel William Fairbairn Richards CB CBE (born August 15, 1945 - November 21, 2019 ) was an officer in the British Army who commanded the 4th Division.

Military career

He received his training in Peterhouse, Cambridge . Richards was named an officer in the Royal Artillery in 1965 . He was given command of the 7th Regiment Royal Horse Artillery in 1983 and 5th Airborne Brigade in 1989. In 1991 he was appointed Director of Army Staff Duties at the Department of Distribution . He was Chief of Combat Support for the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps in 1994 during the Bosnian War . His last appointment was as General Officer Commanding of the 4th Division in 1996. In 1998 he was retired.
