Niklas Nienaß

Niklas Hendrik Nienaß (* 1992 in Marl ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). In the 2019 European elections he won a mandate for the 9th European Parliament and has been a member of the Greens / EFA group since then .

Life

education

After attending a Catholic elementary school (Domsingschule Aachen), Nienaß completed his school career at the Rhein-Maas-Gymnasium in Aachen and finished his education in 2011 with the Abitur. In 2011 and 2012 he spent in Southern Europe, Kenya and Tanzania. In 2013 he moved to Rostock to study . There he began to study history and sociology before switching to the "Good Governance" course. In 2018 he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws . In his bachelor thesis he sheds light on the connection between the Paris climate agreement and the national coal phase-out. In 2018 he started a master’s degree.

Political commitment

In 2009 Nienaß became an active member of the Green Youth and Alliance 90 / The Greens. Since 2015 he has been the spokesman for the LAG Peace, Europe and International Politics in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. He was elected to the state executive committee of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2018 . Nienaß himself emphasizes that the topic of environmental protection is of particular importance to him, and he is said to have regularly attended the Rostock Fridays For Future demonstrations.

Nienaß moved into the 9th European Parliament as a member of the 9th European Parliament in the 2019 European elections in Germany above 18th place on the European list of the Greens . He joined the Greens / EFA group, for which he is a member of the Committee on Regional Development and the Committee on Culture and Education .
