Niklaus Senn

Niklaus Senn (born July 28, 1894 in Wil SG ; † August 28, 1966 in Appenzell ; resident in Wil) was a Swiss bank manager and politician .

Life

Senn attended schools in Wil and Estavayer and completed a banking apprenticeship in Wil. In 1921 he joined the Appenzell-Ausserrhodische Kantonalbank in Herisau . From 1932 he was a director at the Appenzell-Innerrhodische Kantonalbank . Senn consolidated the bank, which was in crisis, and helped it to regain its momentum by building a new building at the headquarters and opening branches.

In 1954 he was elected Innerrhodner Landeszeugherrn and was thus responsible for the military , vocational training and apprenticeship systems until 1966 ; at the same time he was ex officio Innerrhoder Grand Council . He was a member of the Kur- und Verkehrsverein, which he presided over from 1942 to 1966. He was also a member of the cantonal and federal rifle associations.

Senn married in 1921. Son Nikolaus Senn became head of the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBG), one of the two predecessors of today's UBS .
