Raymond Broger

Raymond Broger (born October 24, 1916 in Appenzell ; † February 26, 1980 ibid) was a Swiss politician .

Life

The son of the embroidery manufacturer Emil Broger and his wife Josefina studied law at the universities of Zurich , Bern and Freiburg . In 1945 he opened a law firm in Appenzell. In 1951 he received his doctorate. iur. in Freiburg. Broger was known for his witty and humorous lyrics. From 1956 to 1972 he was an editor at Appenzeller Volksfreund .

politics

Broger was a member of the Christian Democratic People's Party of Switzerland (CVP). From 1954 to 1960 he was the governing captain of the Appenzell district . In 1960 he was in the Ethics Committee of Inner Rhodes canton Appenzell selected which he initially belonged as a national ensign and from 1966 until his death as Landammann board. In 1972 he was appointed ombudsman for Swiss private insurance companies. From 1964 on he was a member of the National Council, from 1971 of the Council of States . There he was u. a. President of the Foreign Affairs Commission and member of the UN Commission.

Awards

On January 29, 1977 in Aachen, Raymond Broger was the 28th "knight" to receive the medal against seriousness for his humorous contributions to the Council of States at the carnival session.
