Ray Dragon

Raymond Dragon (born May 20, 1962 in Detroit , Michigan ) (pseudonym) is an American fashion designer , photographer , director , film producer , actor and porn actor .

Life

Dragon was born in Detroit, Michigan. The former gymnast graduated from Michigan State University , where he received degrees in computer engineering and performing arts . Since 1989 Dragon has lived with his partner Tim Cass. His talent for acting and dancing led to a job in a production of Hector Berlioz's Benvenuto Cellini at the New York Metropolitan Opera . He was also an actor on the Camelot musical tour and in the 1991 film Poison by Todd Haynes .

Then Dragon worked in New York City as a gogo dancer in clubs and began working as a photo model in the fashion industry after his discovery for the porn industry by photographer Jim French , who also ran Colt Studios . Dragon also appeared on the covers of various magazines such as Genre and Next, as well as on the cover of Titan Men: Macho Mayhem . He was photographed by well-known photographers such as David Morgan and Tom Bianchi . During this time he also worked in various porn films. One of his last films from this period is Minute Man 11 from 1996.

Then Dragon began to focus on his work in the fashion industry and his fashion label founded in 1990. The sportswear he designed was initially particularly successful in the gay scene, as his designs accentuated the male physique and were often viewed as homoerotic . He was also later widely recognized in the fashion industry for introducing the use of stretch fabrics into men's fashion through his work. His fashion collections became widely known through publications in magazines such as Details , Vanity Fair , The New York Times Magazine , Cosmopolitan , Detour , Ocean Drive , Rolling Stone , Spy , The Advocate and various sports and fitness magazines. His designs were also used in the Broadway productions of Rent , Chicago and Fosse . The clothing he designed is part of the costume inventory of the American Dance Theater by Alvin Ailey , the Martha Graham Dance Company , the ballet of the Royal Theater in Copenhagen and the ballet of the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt . Dragon has also designed costumes for figure skating shows and was recognized by critics in the New York Times for making costumes in an off-Broadway production.

As a photographer, Dragon published the book Real Men . In 2001 he returned to the porn industry and was active in several films, including director Joe Gage , as a porn actor for Titan Media and Colt Studios. He then founded his own film production studio, Dragon Media , whose productions were nominated for various awards at the GayVN Awards . In 2005 his film Whiplash won the GayVN Award in the Best Specialty Release category. For his own company, Dragon works as a director, cameraman, producer and film editor. He has also directed for Titan Media and edited for Lucas Entertainment .

In 2007, Dragon was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the GayVN Awards . In October 2008 he founded the company D / G Mutual Media with the porn actor and director Joe Gage .
