Nikolai Iwanowitsch Noskow ( Russian: Николай Иванович Носков ; born January 12, 1956 in Gschatsk , Smolensk Oblast ) is a Russian rock singer , composer and musician who was awarded the title of " Honored Artist of the Russian Federation" (2018).

Life

Nikolai Noskov did not enjoy a professional musical education as a child. He was part of school performances and won a variety of awards before being named the best singer of Northwestern Federal District in a competition at the age of 14 . He learned guitar, piano, drums and then trumpet while serving in the army. In 1981 he was discovered by Dawid Tuchmanow and integrated into the Moscow Ensemble . The band broke up after an album. In 1984 he was a member of Araks . In 1987 he wrote the score for the film Island of the Lost Ships by Evgeni Ginsburg and Rauf Məmmədov. In the same year, his next band, Gorky Park, followed , which is still active today, but which Noskow left again in 1990 to form the band Nikolai , before starting a solo career in 1994. He was on tour in the US with Gorky Park, the song Bang! reached number 1 on the US charts. There he also sang together with personalities like Jon Bon Jovi or the singer of the Scorpions Klaus Meine . He has received a variety of awards and prizes for his music.
