Nikolai Nikolaevich Anitschkow ( Russian Николай Николаевич Аничков ; born October 22 . Jul / 3. November  1885 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † 7. December 1964 in Leningrad ) was a Russian pathologist .

Live and act

In 1909 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy . Until 1912 he specialized in the field of pathological anatomy . At the end of this specialization, he defended his doctoral thesis on the study of experimental myocarditis .

From 1913 to 1914 he worked as an assistant at the Pathological Institute at the University of Freiburg with Karl Albert Ludwig Aschoff . From the outbreak of war in 1914, he served as a military doctor. From 1916 to 1919 he taught at the Military Law Academy in St. Petersburg.

With his appointment as professor in 1919, he became head of the department for general anatomy at the academy. He held this position until 1939. From 1939 to 1946 he was the head of pathological anatomy at the academy.

From 1920 to 1964 he also headed the Department of Pathological Anatomy at the Institute of Experimental Medicine at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in Leningrad . At the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR he was its president from 1946 to 1953. With his activities he formed the Leningrad School of Pathologists. At the Ministry of Health, he participated in the medical council. He published more than 150 works on his fields of work.
