Nikolai Sergejewitsch Below ( Russian: Николай Сергеевич Белов ; born August 13, 1987 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with HK Traktor Chelyabinsk from the Continental Hockey League and played for them in the position of defender .
Career
Nikolai Below began his career as a hockey player at HK Dynamo Moscow , for whose second team he was active in the third-class Perwaja Liga in the 2004/05 season . In the following three years he played for Kapitan Stupino in the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division and came only in the 2006/07 season to a use for the professional team of Dynamo Moscow in the Superliga . In the 2007/08 season he also played for the second division Rubin Tjumen and the third division Gasowik-SibGUFK.
With the beginning of the 2008/09 season Below stood for Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League on the ice. In the KHL premiere season, he ran parallel for the second division Neftjanik Leninogorsk . Especially in the 2009/10 season , the left shooter at Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk was able to convince and he was voted Rookie of the Month of the KHL in December 2009 . The Russian, who scored twelve points in a total of 54 games, also became a national player this season.
After six seasons in Nizhnekamsk - interrupted only by a brief stint with Ak Bars Kazan from January to May 2014 - the defender during was season 2014/15 in November 2014 along with a first-round vote of Neftechimik to the SKA Saint Petersburg submitted in In return, Yevgeny Ryassensky , Alexei Grischin and Mikhail Tichonow switched to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk. At the end of the season he won the Gagarin Cup with the SKA . A few days after the start of the 2015/16 season , Below was given to Ak Bars Kazan for financial compensation, although he had extended his contract with SKA a few months earlier. Below also only stayed one season in Kazan, just like in the following season at HK Tractor Chelyabinsk .
In August 2017, the defender without a contract decided to move to North America, where he initially received a trial contract with the Florida Panthers from the National Hockey League . However, this did not result in a permanent commitment.
International
For Russia , Below took part in the tournaments of the Euro Hockey Tour between 2009 and 2012 . He was also in the squad of Sbornaja at the 2011 World Cup in Slovakia . To reach fourth place, Below could not contribute any scorer points in six tournament appearances.
