Nikolaus Hottong

Nikolaus Hottong (* 1963 in Saarland ) is a German electrical engineer and professor for video technology and network technologies at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University .

Life

Nikolaus Hottong studied electrical engineering from 1982 to 1989 , specializing in image and sound transmission, at the University of Karlsruhe , where he received his degree in electrical engineering . After completing his studies, he worked for three years as an engineer specializing in digital audio technology and for another six years as a senior engineer for central technology and operations at Südwestfunk (SWF). At the same time, Hottong completed an extra-occupational postgraduate course in leadership qualification at the Technical Academy in Esslingen from 1995 . After the merger of Südwestfunk and Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) to form Südwestrundfunk (SWR) in 1997, Nikolaus Hottong became head of the strategic planning / coordination service and project planning department from 1998 . In April 2002 he was appointed to the professorship for media technology at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University. From 2004 to 2009 he was head of the online media course there. Since 2009 he has been vice dean and alumni representative of the faculty. In 2013 he successfully led the faculty's new master’s courses - media informatics and design of interactive media - to international accreditation .

Research and areas of work

During his many years of research, Nikolaus Hottong published numerous publications in the fields of film, television and radio technology, with a special focus on stereoscopic HD production . His fields of work and teaching at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University are video technology and audio technology , media production and network technology. Hottong is also a member of the Television and Cinema Engineering Society (FKTG) and a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
