Nikolaus Selimov

Nikolaus Selimov (born May 9, 1962 in Vienna ) is an Austrian choreographer and dance teacher. He lives and works in Vienna.

Career

Selimov studied pedagogy for modern dance at the then Conservatory of the City of Vienna (since 2005 private), acting at the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Vienna and theater studies and German studies at the University of Vienna . Together with the Viennese choreographer Manfred Aichinger , he directed the Homunculus dance theater from 1981 to 2011 , where he was engaged as a dancer and choreographer until 1994.

Selimov has been the curator of the Austria dance festival at the Festspielhaus St. Pölten since 2008 together with Manfred Aichinger. From 1987 to 1993 he taught body training for actors at the Volkstheater drama school in Vienna. Since 1993 he has been teaching improvisation and choreography at the Vienna Conservatory. He has been head of the dance department at the Vienna Conservatory since 2002 .

From 1997 to 2000 Selimov was the spokesman for the Vienna Choreographers Platform, which played a key role in the establishment of Tanzquartier Wien . He is a board member of the Professional Association for Modern Dance Education in Austria and the Rosalia Chladek Working Group in Austria.
