Nikolay Borchev
Nikolay Borchev ( Russian: Николай Евгеньевич Борчев , also Nikolai Evgenjewitsch Bortschew , born on February 2, 1980 in Pinsk ) is a Belarusian opera singer ( baritone ).
Life
Borchev studied in Moscow and Berlin and has been a member of the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich since 2003 . There he sang and sings Papageno , Guglielmo , Figaro and Dr. The falcon , the dandini in La cenerentola , the harlequin in Ariadne on Naxos and the barber in the silent woman .
He appeared as Harlequin at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, as Figaro at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Hamburg State Opera , as Guglielmo at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and as Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas at the Opéra-Comique Paris , and as Moritz in the world premiere of Benoît Mernier's Spring Awakening at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. He sang Harlequin and Albert in Werther at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden , Jeletzki in Pique Dame at the Basel Theater, Marcello in La Bohème at the Latvian National Opera in Riga and at the Leipzig Opera . He made his debut at the Bilbao Opera as Donald in Billy Budd , at the Schwetzingen Festival as Pluto in Kraus ' Proserpina , at the Glyndebourne Festival 2013 as Maletesta in Don Pasquale .
Borchev often appears in Austria, for example at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival (in Handel's Das Alexanderfest under René Jacobs ) and at the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music , at the Vienna State Opera (among others as Figaro, Dandini, Gugliemo, Papageno and Dr. Falke) and in the Theater an der Wien . There he sang Harlequin in 2010, the title role in concert in 2013 in Ullmann's Kaiser von Atlantis and Claudio in stage in Béatrice et Bénédict .
Borchev's concert repertoire includes Bach's St. Matthew Passion , Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle , Haydn's Creation , which he sang at the Great Mountain Music Festival in Seoul , and Mahler's Songs of a Journeyman . He also performs recitals , among others with Schubert's Schöner Müllerin .
