Nikos Dimou ( Greek Νίκος Δήμου , * 1935 in Psychiko , Athens , Greece ) is a Greek essayist , prose writer and poet.

Life

Dimou graduated from the private Athens College in Athens, where he studied French philosophy. In 1953 he published his first book. From 1954 to 1960 he studied philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After his return he worked in an advertising agency and in 1965 founded his own advertising company. In 1979 he began working as a columnist for various Greek magazines and newspapers, such as To Vima , Kathimerini and the Sunday edition of Kyriakatiki Eleftherotypia and Ethnos . As early as 1979 he had his own talk show on Greek television. He was a co-founder of the Athens 98.4 FM radio station and worked on the third program of the state radio ERA. Since 1983 he has only been active as a writer.

After the overthrow of the colonel's dictatorship in 1974, Dimou published his book I Dystychia tou na ise Ellinas , which was very critically received in Greece and which was only published in German in 2012 with the title About the misfortune of being a Greek .

In 2009 Dimou ran for the Greek party Drasi (Aktion) for the European Parliament . The party won so few votes that it did not run for the election of the Greek national parliament later that year.
