Nile Lara

Nil Lara (* 1964 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American musician.

Born in the United States to Cuban immigrants, he spent much of his youth in Venezuela , where he came into contact with Venezuelan music. He learned to play cuatro and guitar . While studying electrical engineering at the University of Florida , he began to discover his Cuban roots and Cuban music. He learned to play tres . During this time he founded his first band KRU , with which he recorded two albums. With the following band he produced an EP on his own label Beluga Blue and then signed a contract with the Capitol label Metro Blue . Lara combined North and Central American influences in his music. After the album Nil Lara , released in 1996, he was often heard in commercials and television soundtracks, but he was unable to achieve major commercial success. In 2004 he released two more albums almost simultaneously. He continues to perform live and releases new productions online, most recently the album in 2018 .
