Nils-Gustav Hahl

Nils-Gustav Hahl (born August 7, 1904 in Helsinki , † September 3, 1941 in Bromarv ) was a Finnish art historian and entrepreneur.

Hahl's parents were Professor Carl Hahl and Maria Emilia Åkerman. From 1922 Nils-Gustav Hahl studied at the Swedish-speaking Nya svenska läroverketista , today Gymnasiet Lärkan in Helsinki. In 1929 he made his Bachelor of Science at the University of Helsinki with a focus on art history. Hahl had been writing articles and reviews in Finnish and Swedish newspapers since 1928.

In 1935, Hahl founded the design company Artek together with Aino and Alvar Aalto and Maire Gullichsen . Hahl was President and CEO of Artek until his death in 1941. In 1939 he was a founding member of the Contemporary Art Society .

During the continuation war between the Soviet Union and Finland, he disappeared on September 3, 1941 as a medical sergeant at the Hangofront in the Finnish countryside of Uusimaa , his body was found on December 4, 1941 near Bromarv .
