Nils Blommér
Nils Blommér (born June 12, 1816 in Blommeröd , Skåne , † February 1, 1853 in Rome ; actually Nils Jakob Olsson ) was a Swedish painter who was mainly active in Paris and Rome.
Blommér started his career as an apprentice painter and began in 1839 at the Swedish Art Academy . In 1847 he received a generous scholarship, after which he moved to Paris to the school of Léon Cogniet .
Blommér was a nature mystic and influenced by the trends of his time. The neo-romanticists Geijer , Atterbom and Stagnelius had a great influence on Blommér's work. For this reason he painted several panels on the subject of elves , for example meadow elves from 1850. Blommér was also inspired by the Austrian painter Moritz von Schwind and his motifs from popular belief . Blommér was convinced that nature has a soul that shows itself in the legendary figures.
