Nilton Bonder

Nilton Bonder (born December 27, 1957 in Porto Alegre , Brazil ) is a Brazilian rabbi , coordinator of the Congregação Judaica do Brasil (Jewish religious order of Brazil) in Rio de Janeiro and author. He is the nephew of sports official Carlos Arthur Nuzman .

Life

Bonder was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York in 1987 , where he also received his doctorate in Hebrew literature. He is the author of internationally successful books on various topics from a Jewish perspective; his works have been published in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, USA, China, Russia and South Korea. Bonder regularly gives lectures in the USA and also works as a consultant for various companies such as Natura, IBM , Embratel, Vale , O Globo , Banco ABN AMRO , Petrobrás , Fundação Don Cabral and Fundação Getúlio Vargas. In Rio de Janeiro he also coordinates the Midrash cultural center. Nilton Bonder is actively committed to human rights and environmental issues.

Publications

His book A Alma Imoral (for example Die immittliche Seele ; the book has not yet appeared in German) was selected by Tikkun as one of the twenty best Jewish books of 2002 and has been very successfully adapted into a play that Veja magazine published in 2008 as best performance of the year in São Paulo . The play will also be performed in Buenos Aires and filmed under the direction of Silvio Tendler.

Another play about his book O Código Penal Celeste (English Heavens's Criminal Code , German about The Code of heaven ; the book is not yet published in German) is currently in progress.

Four of his books have so far been published in German: The rabbi is always right , the ecology of money , envy for professionals and the limits of intelligence .
