The Nipeodden ( Norwegian for protruding point ; Japanese 人 さ し 指 尾根 Hitosasiyubi-one , German for 'index finger ridge ' ) is a mountain ridge in Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . In the Lunckeryggen of Sør Rondane , it is the second easternmost of the five mountain ridges that extend north from the Brattnipane .
Japanese scientists, who also named it, mapped it on the basis of surveys carried out between 1984 and 1991 and aerial photographs from 1981 to 1982 and 1986. Scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute named it descriptively in 1989.
