Ravi Yadav ( Vinod Khanna ) is employed as a servant to Manohar Singh ( Rajiv Verma ) and his wife Renuka ( Moushumi Chatterjee ). Ravi has a younger brother, Rohan Yadav. Singh suspects Ravi is having an affair with his wife and devises a plan to teach Ravi a lesson. He ensures that Ravi is sentenced to 12 years in prison for allegedly raping and murdering young Parvati. Renuka assures him that she will take care of Rohan. After Ravi comes out of prison, he is told that Renuka is no longer alive and he doesn't know where his brother is now. Rohan is growing up under a new identity with Renuka's friend Yashoda ( Reema Lagoo ) and her husband lawyer Suryakant Gujral ( Saeed Jaffrey ). Rohan becomes a dedicated lawyer named Vasudev Gujral ( Salman Khan ), making enemies too. Payal Singh ( Karisma Kapoor ), lively, sweet, young and innocent gives a new meaning to Vasu's life, but is the daughter of Manohar Singh. When Ravi needs money to find his brother, he accepts an assignment to kill Vasudev Gujral without knowing that he is about to kill his own brother.
