The Nishio ( Japanese 西 尾 氏 , Nishio-shi ) were a family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ), which was derived from the Kira ( Seiwa-Genji ). With an income of 35,000 Koku , the Nishio residing in Yokosuka ( Shizuoka Prefecture ) belonged to the smaller Fudai daimyō of the Edo period .

genealogy

• Yoshitsugu ( 吉 次 ; 1530–1606), son of Kira Mochihiro, served in succession to Oda Nobunaga , Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu . In 1602 he received the Ichihara ( Musashi ) fief with 12,000 koku.

His descendants resided from 1616 Shirai ( Kōzuke ), from 1618 in Tsuchiura ( Hitachi ), 1649 in Tanaka ( Suruga ), 1669 in Komoro ( Shinano ), both with 25,000 koku each, and finally from 1682 in Yokosuka ( Tōtōmi ) with 35,000 koku . The heads of families held the honorary title of Oki no kami . After the Shizuoka fiefdom was established for Tokugawa Iesato in the Meiji Restoration in 1868 , which also included the Yokosuka area, the Nishio were transferred to the newly created Hanabusa ( Awa ) and carried the title Vice Count .
