The Nissos Kefalonia is a ferry of the Greek Levante Ferries , which entered service as Venus in 1975 . Since 1993 it has been in use on various routes between Kefalonia and mainland Greece, most recently from Kyllini via Argostoli to Poros .

history

The Venus was laid on December 10, 1974 under the hull number 396 at Naikai Shipbuilding & Engineering in Innoshima (today part of the city of Onomichi ) and on August 7, 1975 it was delivered to the Higashi Nihon Ferry Company, which she was in ferry service in front of the Coast of Japan .

After twenty years in service, the Venus was sold as Kefalonia to the Greek Strintzis Lines in March 1993 . After the shipping company was sold, it was renamed Blue Star Ferries , but it separated from the route to Kefalonia. The route from Kyllini via Ithaka to Kefalonia was operated by the newly founded Strintzis Lines . From December 2011 the ship was lying unused in Drapetsona before it was sold as Nissos Kefalonia to the successor company Kefalonia Lines in March 2013 . Since April 2013, the Nissos Kefalonia was in use between Kyllini, Argostoli and Poros.

In 2018 the ship and the route were taken over by Levante Ferries, which previously only served Zakynthos. The ship is currently being overtaken in Piraeus to return to the route to Kefalonia.
