Robinson Njeru Githae

Robinson Njeru Githae (* 1957 in the province of Central ) is a Kenyan politician and diplomat .

Life

Robinson Njeru Githae first attended the Baricho Elementary School from 1967 to 1970 and then from 1971 to 1974 the Maseno National School in Maseno and most recently between 1975 and 1976 the Kangaru National School. In 1977 he began studying law at the University of Nairobi , graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Laws . A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at the Kenya School of Law he joined in 1981 with a diploma. He then began his professional career in 1981 as Secretary of the Board of Directors of Diamond Trust Bank and then moved to CFC Bank from 1986 to 1991 as Secretary of the Board of Directors before he was Managing Director of the insurer General Manager, Pan African Insurance Company Limited between 1991 and 2001 .

Githae was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly in the elections of December 27, 2002 for the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) and represented the constituency of Ndia until 2014 . During the first term of President Mwai Kibaki he was Vice Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs. He joined the Party of National Unity (PNU) founded by President Kibaki in September 2007 . During his second term in office, between 2007 and 2010, he was Vice Minister for Transport and Vice Minister for Local Government. In 2010 he took over the post of Minister for the Development of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area in the Kibaki government . After Uhuru Kenyatta resigned on January 26, 2012, he initially took over the post of finance minister. As part of a cabinet reshuffle, he was appointed Finance Minister on March 26, 2012, while Sam Ongeri became the new Foreign Minister. He served as Finance Minister until the end of Kibaki's presidency on April 9, 2013.

On August 14, 2014 Njeru Githae was the new President Uhuru Kenyatta to Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United States appointed. His older sister, Eunice Muringo Kiereini, served as Chief Nursing Officer as Chief Nursing Officer between 1968 and 1986 , while another older sister is the writer Micere Githae Mugo .

Since May 2019 he has been ambassador to Austria and permanent representative of Kenya to the international organizations in Vienna.
