The Njord Valley is a high-altitude, mainly ice-free and 3 km long valley in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Asgard Range , it is east of Oliver Peak .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the valley in 1982 at the suggestion of the soil scientist Graeme Geoffrey Carré Claridge (* 1931) from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research . Namesake is Njörðr , father of the goddess Freya from Norse mythology .
