Noël St. Clair Deschamps (born December 25, 1908 in Brisbane , † May 12, 2005 ) was an Australian diplomat .

Life

Noël St. Clair Deschamps was the son of Jacqueline Hester, nee Irwin, and Joseph Mark Deschamps. Antonio Azzopardi was one of his ancestors . He attended the Glamorgan Toorak , Melbourne, from 1919 to 1922 schools in Rome and Brussels from 1923 to 1926 the Melbourne Grammar School . From 1927 to 1931 he was a Bachelor of the University of Cambridge .

Noël Deschamps joined the Australian Department of External Affairs in 1937 . He was employed in Ottawa , Nouméa ( New Caledonia ), Paris, Dublin and Pretoria. From 1946 to 1947 he was chargé d'affaires in Moscow . From 1949 to 1952 he headed the Australian military mission in Berlin . From 1952 to 1956 during the Suez crisis , he was ambassador to Cairo . From 1962 to 1969 he was ambassador to Phnom Penh ( Cambodia ). From 1969 to 1974 he was ambassador to Santiago de Chile . In 1974 he was retired .
