The No Name City (“Nameless City”) was a 130,000 m² western adventure park in Wöllersdorf , Austria .

history

The style of the city and its buildings are based on the style of western US settlements of the 19th century and the naive, glorified image of the western television and cinema . Numerous cultural programs - such as regular lectures and demonstrations by Native Americans - also gave visitors a more enlightened perspective on the time of the colonization of America and the current way of life of the Indian tribes in the USA and Canada .

The construction costs amounted to 100 million schillings (7.3 million euros ), 90 percent of which were subsidized by the EU , the Austrian state and the state of Lower Austria . Another investor was Schoellerbank . The park was opened on March 31, 2001 and with admission prices of 140 and 80 schillings, the target of 200,000 visitors in the first summer season was exceeded by 12 percent.

One and a half years after the opening of the western town built by Markus Gerauer and run by Andreas Bruneder, Manfred Eschlböck took over the amusement park and its liabilities for a symbolic price. At the same time, No Name City was renamed “Pullman City” in order to cooperate with the German Pullman City Parks in the field of marketing. After only one season, however, they had to file for bankruptcy again. A new owner was found in 2004 in the 28-year-old Bernhard Negedly, who among other things also runs the “Indian Dreams” western shops and took over the park free of debt.

The city was present in the media in 2006 primarily through a film of the same name , which addresses the peculiarities of the city and its visitors, but also the grievances of the management of the past few years.

In 2008, No Name City was converted into 'Soccer City 08' from June 7th to 20th on the occasion of the European Football Championship. In addition to the existing attractions, large-screen video projections, beach bars and other football-related events were also offered. Shortly afterwards, No Name City was closed due to financial problems.

The site is currently a major construction site and some buildings have already been demolished. Nothing is known about further plans.
