Noam Gershony (born January 30, 1983 ) is an Israeli wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Noam Gershony was a pilot in the Israel Defense Forces . During the 2006 Lebanon War, his AH-64 Apache collided with another helicopter and crashed, killing his copilot and seriously injuring himself. As part of his rehabilitation program, he began wheelchair tennis in 2007 and has since started in the quadriplegic class .

In 2011 he won the individual competition at the Wheelchair Tennis Masters with a final victory against Andrew Lapthorne . It was his first big title win. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics , he won the bronze medal with Shraga Weinberg . In the individual, he won the gold medal with a final victory over David Wagner .
