Nobbin is a district of the Putgarten municipality on the Wittow peninsula on the Baltic Sea island of Rügen . The village, which consists of only a few houses, is located between the road from Altenkirchen to Arkona and the Tromper Wiek . Due to its favorable location between Cape Arkona and the wide, over 10 km long beach of the Schaabe , the village is characterized by tourism (guest houses and holiday apartments).

Nobbin was a small farming village with only three homesteads, only parts of which are still preserved today , according to the Mestischblatt from 1880. There was also a windmill a little south of the village, it disappeared after 1920. To the northwest of the village and the Altenkirchen - Putgarten road there was the second large stone grave, the exact location of which has not been recorded, it was cleared a long time ago and is no longer visible.

Riesenberg megalithic tomb

500 meters east of the village is the Neolithic stone grave Nobbin (also called Großsteingrab Riesenberg or Hünengrab Riesenberg ), one of the largest stone graves in northern Germany. Wilhelm Petzsch and Ewald Schuldt carried out excavations at the grave in 1933 .

Great Nobbiner Liete and Kliff

400 meters southeast of Nobbin is located in the cliff Drewoldke - Arkona a large Liete . Lieten are erosion channels in the cliff, which were often used by fishermen as climbs on the cliff, because they have less gradients than the active cliff. A well-developed cycle and hiking trail runs along the cliff from Juliusruh via Goor and Vitt to Arkona, which also leads directly past the "Riesenberg".
