The Nobel Rocks (English for noble rocks ) are a group of around 19 small and low cliff rocks in northern Marguerite Bay off the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . They belong to the group of the Dion Islands and lie east of Jester Rock .
The Dion Islands were discovered and roughly mapped in 1909 during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1949 took measurements specifically of these cliff rocks. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on 31 March 1955 at the context Emperor Iceland (English for Emperor Island ).
