Nodes of Ranvier is a metalcore band with Christian lyrics from Sioux Falls , South Dakota ( USA ). It existed between 2000 and 2008.

Band history

Nodes of Ranvier was founded in the summer of 2000 by singer Thomas Hentges, guitarists Zack Poppinga and Jon Parker, bassist Jon Schuld and drummer Ryan Knutson. In the course of the band's history, Nodes of Ranvier had a total of 18 different members, but only one of them, founding member Jon Parker (guitar), stayed until the end of the band. The name of the band is a term from neurobiology and is translated in German as Ranvier-Schnürring .

In 2002 a split CD with the band Innocence Broken was released on the small independent label Winter in July . Then the band signed with Facedown Records , where the debut album Lost Senses, More Innocence was released that same year . Then Nick Thomas joined as the second guitarist, who, however, already focused on Spill the Cancvas in July 2004 . In the meantime, the band's self-titled second work followed. Jake Sefek from To Drown Her Sorrows took over for Thomas . A tour with The Agony Scene and Becoming the Archetype followed, after which the line-up broke up again.

Despite all the problems, The Years to Come appeared in 2003 with Nick Murphy as singer and Terry Taylor on bass. This was followed by a tour with Still Remains and then with The Warriors . In 2007 the last album Defined by Struggle was released with Kyle Benecke on vocals and Josh Ferrie on drums on Victory Records . The hoped-for deal with the metalcore market leader ultimately became the band's beacon. After a short push over the summer of 2007, the label dropped the band. The band's last appearance took place on December 31, 2008, after which Nodes of Ranvier was put on hold for an indefinite period.

Music genre

Nodes of Ranvier play metalcore with mostly Christian lyrics. The music is kept in the typical style of this music genre and is based on riffing and enforcement with breakdwons . Some of the musical design features of hardcore punk , but also of black , death and thrash metal are adopted.
