Noel Beresford-Peirse

Lieutenant General Sir Noel Monson de la Poer Beresford-Peirse KBE , CB , DSO ( December 22, 1887 - January 14, 1953 ) was a British general.

Beresford-Peirse was the son of Colonel William John de la Poer Beresford-Peirse . He attended school in Berkshire . His military career began at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst .

He was married three times. His second wife died a year after the marriage.

Early years

Beresford-Peirse joined the British Army as an artilleryman in 1907 .

In the first World War

Beresford-Peirse served in the First World War in Mesopotamia , France and Belgium . In 1918 he received the DSO for his services.

Between the wars

After the First World War, until 1929, he was an artilleryman in the British Army in France. In Great Britain he took on administrative and personal tasks until 1935.

During the Second World War

At the beginning of the Second World War Beresford-Peirce was the commander of the 4th Indian Infantry Division , which was stationed in Egypt . With this division he fought in Operation Compass in North Africa in December 1940, then from Sudan in the East Africa campaign .

In March 1941 he received the Order of the British Empire and on April 14, 1941 the troops of the XIII. subordinated to British Corps. His successor was Lieutenant General Alfred Reade Godwin-Austen .

After the wars

Beresford-Peirse was the supply general in India after World War II. He retired on June 13, 1947.
