Nomada panzeri is a bee from the family of Apidae . The males lookvery similar to Nomada flava and Nomada signata .

features

The bees have a body length of 9 to 12 millimeters (females) or 7 to 10 millimeters (males). The head and thorax of the females are black and drawn in red. The tergites are red, sometimes with yellow spots, their base is more or less black. The labrum is red and has a tooth in the middle. The third antenna segment is significantly shorter than the fourth. The scutellum is red and clearly bumpy. The thighs ( femora ) of the middle legs are hairy twice as long as the thighs of the hind legs. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have several strong, long, pointed thorns. The head of the males is black and has yellow markings. The thorax is also black, but has a red mark. The tergites are black and red and have yellow spots and bandages. The labrum is yellow. The third antenna segment is significantly shorter than the fourth. The label has two red spots and is slightly humped. The rails of the hind legs are blunt at the end and have several long thorns. The females in particular are very variable in their coloration. Individuals who live in low altitudes, north of the Alps up to about 1000 meters above sea level, are lighter in color, above they are darker. Some authors give the latter their own species status: Nomada glabella .

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in Western, Central and Northern Europe. The animals fly from late March to late August. They parasitize Andrena fucata , Andrena fulva , Andrena helvola , Andrena lapponica , Andrena synadelpha, and Andrena varians .
