Nomada tridentirostris is a bee from the family of Apidae .

features

The bees are 7 to 8 millimeters long. The head and thorax of the females are black and drawn in red. The tergites are red, the first and often the fourth and fifth are basal black. The labrum is red and has a small tooth at the base. The third antenna segment is about the same length as the fourth. The scutellum is slightly humped and has two red spots. The rails ( tibia ) of the hind legs are elongated at the end, curved outwards and rounded. They have several long, small thorns. The head of the males is black and has a pale yellow pattern. The thorax is also black. The abdomen is red, the base of the first tergite and often that of the rest is black. The third antenna element is shorter than the fourth, the fourth to the eighth element has a pointed nodule on the back. The eighth link is widened at the end. The label is black and noticeably humped. The thighs ( femora ) of the hind legs are concave at the bottom, the rails of the hind legs are shaped in the same way as in the female and have long, light thorns.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is distributed in southern Europe, Hungary and Slovakia . The animals fly from late April to early May. They parasitize Andrena ventricosa .
