Norbert-Christian Emmerich

Norbert C. Emmerich (born September 8, 1950 in Arnsberg ) was deputy chairman of the board of WestLB .

After studying economics at the University of Marburg , he started a trainee program at Sparkasse Arnsberg in 1974 . In 1979 he became a research assistant at the Chair of Business Administration at the University of Marburg and received his doctorate in 1981.

Emmerich was a speaker at the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR) and member of the board of several North Rhine-Westphalian savings banks (most recently Sparkasse Münsterland Ost ) before he was appointed to the board of WestLB in May 2004. From May 2005 to the end of April 2008 he was Deputy Chairman of the Board of WestLB . The background to his appointment was the desire of the savings banks in North Rhine-Westphalia, which had a 33.4 percent stake in WestLB via Landesbank NRW, for more influence on WestLB's business, which had lost billions in previous years due to deficiencies in risk control and fired several board members.

Emmerich has also been a member of the supervisory board of RAG Immobilien since July 1, 2005 , a member of the DekaBank “Asset Management Capital Market Retail” advisory board , chairman of the readybank supervisory board, a member of the supervisory board of WestLB subsidiary Westdeutsche ImmobilienBank , GFKL Financial Services AG , the consulting and software company ifb AG , the Handelshochschule Leipzig (HHL), as well as deputy chairman of the board of trustees of the Stiftung Musikhalle Münster. Until September 2001 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Vectron Systems AG , from the end of 2004 to the beginning of 2005 he was briefly a member of the supervisory board of TUI , from December 2005 onwards he was temporarily a member of the supervisory board of RW Holding AG (Düsseldorf).

Emmerich has been the honorary federal treasurer of the German Red Cross (DRK) since 2009 . He has been a member of the DRK since 1987.
