Norbert Haase (born October 25, 1955 ) is a former German football player who played for BSG Chemie Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the highest league in GDR football, in the 1970s .

Athletic career

At the beginning of the 1975/76 season, at the age of 19, Norbert Haase moved from the third-class company sports association (BSG) Motor Grimma to the new league club BSG Chemie Leipzig. In the published Oberliga lineup he was specified as a striker, but was initially used in the district league team Chemistry Leipzig II. There he played five point games in attack in the first half of the season and scored two goals in the 3-1 away win at HSG DHfK Leipzig . When the standard striker Bernd Röpcke failed in the second half of the first team , coach Karl Schäffner gave Haase the chance to prove himself in the top division. He played all six point games until the end of the season and was in the starting line-up four times. He did not score a goal.

The BSG Chemie had to relegate to the GDR league again after a year in the league. In the 1976/77 season Haase was not part of the regular team, he was only used in eight league games. In his five starting eleven games, he was now called up as a defender. Accordingly, he did not come to any goals again. His team was the season winner and thus qualified for the league promotion round. In the eight games, the chemists missed the rebound. Haase was used in five of the eight matches. In his second year in the GDR league, Haase made his breakthrough as a regular player in 1977/78. Coach Schäffner now offered him regularly in defense, so that Haase came to 16 missions by matchday 18, in which, however, he again remained goalless. In May 1978 Haase was drafted into the National People's Army for 18 months .

In November 1979, Haase returned to BSG Chemie Leipzig, which had meanwhile made it to the top division. Even under the new coach Dieter Sommer , Haase was used again as a defender and had played ten league games by the end of the season. His team again proved unsuitable for the league and played again in the GDR league in 1980/81. Haase first played the first four games in the league, after which he only played three times as a substitute in the first half of the season.

At the beginning of 1981, Haase ended his engagement with Chemie Leipzig and returned to BSG Motor Grimma, which had meanwhile been relegated to the fourth division district class. With the help of Norbert Haase, the team immediately rose to the district league. In 1984 Motor Grimma and Haase were promoted to the GDR league. In the following GDR league season 1984/85 Norbert Haase played his last season in higher-class football. In the first half of the season he was used by coach Rainer Lisiewicz in seven GDR league games, sometimes in midfield, sometimes in attack. Haase then stayed with Motor Grimma, where he was active in the coaching staff.
