Norbert Henke (handball trainer)

Norbert Henke (born October 17, 1956 in Stralsund ) is a former German handball trainer and former handball player.

Henke graduated in 1973 after school vocational training for maintenance mechanics and took on the workers' and peasants faculty in Freiberg the High School for, then he studied mechanical engineering . He worked in the National People's Army (NVA), most recently as a major . After the political change he worked as a sales representative at the building materials company Thomas Beton .

He played actively handball at ASV Löbau in the GDR League and the GDR Oberliga . After Norbert Henke suffered a serious knee injury, he had to end his active career.

From 1987 he coached the first men's team of BSG Motor Stralsund , the later Stralsund handball club (SHV), which he led from the 5th division to promotion to the 1st handball Bundesliga in the 2002/2003 season . In 2002 he received the A coach license. On March 2nd, 2005 he was given leave of absence at the Stralsund AGM. From summer 2005 he was coach and managing director at SV Post Schwerin in the 2nd handball Bundesliga , North Staffel, and in spring 2008 extended his contract by three years. In 2009, Henke gave up the post of trainer at SV Post Schwerin and continued to work for the club as managing director. In July 2010, the contract, which ran until June 30, 2011, was terminated by the association. He then worked as a real estate agent.

In November 2011 Norbert Henke took over the coaching position at HC Empor Rostock . After Rostock was able to avoid relegation in the 2011/2012 season , he switched to the management of Empor; the two-year contract was terminated by the club in 2012 on October 31. Since the end of 2012, Norbert Henke has been working again on a voluntary basis for the Stralsund HV. From July 1, 2013 he was managing director of the SHV-Handball GmbH founded on this date; on July 22, 2013 he took over the training of the first men's team, which was relegated to the handball league Ostsee-Spree after the 2012/2013 season . In January 2015 he handed over the coaching position of the Stralsund HV, now playing in the 3rd division again , to Danny Anclais and then continued to work as managing director of SHV-Handball-GmbH. At the end of January 2016, Norbert Henke gave up the position of managing director “for personal reasons”. In April 2020, Henke was introduced as the new sporting director of the Mecklenburg Bulls Schwerin . He will also train the men's team there from the 2020/21 season.
