Norbert Konter (also: Kontesch Norb , born December 14, 1927 in Grevenmacher ; † September 26, 2018 in Luxembourg ), was a Luxembourg politician and football player in and from Grevenmacher.

From 1950 to 1960 he was an employee of the health insurance fund and from 1960 to 1987 a collector in the Grevenmacher community.

Political activity

In the local elections in 1987, at the suggestion and request of Jacques Santer and Jean Spautz, he was elected to the list of the Chrëschtlech Sozial Vollekspartei (CSV) and was mayor of Grevenmacher from 1988 to 1999. From 1989 to 1999 he was also a member of the Luxembourg Parliament ( Chambre des Députés ).

From 1994 to 1999 he was president of the Syndicat intercommunal à vocation multiple des villes et communes luxembourgeoises pour la promotion et la sauvegarde d'intérêts communaux généraux (SYVICOL, in short: community syndicate ), of which all municipalities in the country have been members since 1993.

Football career

On December 14, 1941, Konter signed his first license with CS Grevenmacher (CSG), the football club to which he belonged until his death. He was originally used as a striker and then became a goalkeeper . It is said to have been used in more than 1,000 games without ever receiving a yellow card or red card . In the Grevenmacher club he worked as a player, coach, masseur, supervisor, groundskeeper, secretary and president and from 1986 to 1998 he was president of the Luxembourg Football Association . The football school in Monnerich goes back to his initiative and the founding of Lottolux . On January 24, 1998 he was elected Honorary President of the Luxembourg Football Association.

Honors

  • In 1997 he was awarded the Honorary Prize of the Luxembourg Sports Press Association.
  • Since 1999 he was an officer of the Order of the Oak Crown (Ordre de la Couronne de Chêne).
  • In 2004 he received the COSL Fair Play Trophy.
