Norbert Kron (born March 22, 1965 in Munich ) is a German writer, journalist and filmmaker.

life and work

Norbert Kron studied general and comparative literature at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and already began to work literary and journalistic at this time. He has lived in Berlin since 1992, where he works as a freelance culture journalist for television (including ttt - titel, thesen, temperamente ) and print media (including Tagesspiegel , Die Welt , Die Zeit ). In 1985 he founded the magazine concepts - magazine for literature, published by the Federal Association of Young Authors . In his novels and narrative texts, Norbert Kron repeatedly deals with the social conditions in the media world, with the focus on the question of interpersonal relationships and relationship models between men and women.

The debut novel "Autopilot" (2002) is about a successful television producer who breaks out of his relationship and revolts against the medium. “Der Begleiter” (2008) tells the story of a cultural journalist who works for an erotic escort agency , which was interpreted as a parable of today's love relationships and the cultural precariousness of Berlin. His most recent texts, triggered by multiple stays in Tel Aviv, deal with the relationship between Germans and Israelis. In 2015, together with the Israeli writer Amichai Shalev, he published the anthology "We don't forget, we go dancing", which was published in parallel by a German and a Hebrew publisher.

Krons literary work was supported by numerous scholarships (including the German Literature Fund , the Villa Aurora Los Angeles ). Following the novel "The Companion", he founded the art project "Art Escort", in which Berlin writers, visual artists and other cultural workers can be booked as cultural (not erotic) Berlin companions (awarded the "Myself" award) . In 2015, to mark the 50th anniversary of German-Israeli diplomatic relations, the cultural project "Dontforgetdance.com" was created. Its numerous events are based on the anthology "We do not forget, we go dancing" and by the Federal Agency for Political Education, the Foreign Office and Jewish Affairs Museum Berlin was funded.

In his book "A home in foreign countries - What we can learn from the best school for immigrants in Germany" (2017), Kron portrays the Bialik Rogozin School in Tel Aviv, which is responsible for its integration work with refugee children and other students with a migration background has become known worldwide. Their stories are compared with similar stories from the UNESCO School in Essen, which has entered into a school partnership with the Bialik Rogozin School in Tel Aviv. Twelve theses that are derived from this are intended to give the integration debate in Germany new impetus. There is a public blog about this on an associated website.
