history

A brewery has been located in Oberhaunstadt Castle since 1569. From 1693 the Jesuits started brewing brown beer in what is now Nordbräu. In 1833 the Wittmann family took over the brewery. In 1865 the Oberhaunstadt brewery took over the Ziegelbräu in Ingolstadt, followed by Lindermeierbräu in 1871 . With the incorporation of Oberhaunstadt in 1972, the name of the Oberhaunstadt Brewery was changed to Nordbräu. The brewery in the Oberhaunstadt district is the largest employer in the district with over 120 employees.

The Nordbräu brewery has been awarded the gold DLG medal several times. 2010, the brewery was in German Hop Museum , the brewing ring presents quality seal.
