Norddal was a municipality in the Central Norwegian Fylke Møre og Romsdal . The administrative seat of the municipality was Valldal . As part of the local government reform in Norway , Norddal and Stordal were merged to form the municipality of Fjord on January 1, 2020 .

The municipality has 1645 people (as of January 1, 2019) on an area of ​​around 941 square kilometers with a population density of 1.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. In addition to Norddal and Valldal, the localities of Fjørå , Tafjord and Eidsdal belong to the large commune . The municipality number was 1524.

Nordal lay partly in the Tafjordfjella Mountains , in which some areas can only be reached from the water, but bordered on the opposite side with the Geirangerfjord and the archipelago . The region is one of the most fish-rich areas in Norway. Even the Eidsvatn lake at 423 meters is one of them.
