Stordal is a place and a former municipality in the Norwegian Fylke Møre og Romsdal . The administrative center of the municipality was Stordal. As part of the local government reform in Norway , Stordal and Norddal were merged to form the municipality of Fjord on January 1, 2020 .

The municipality expanded in north-south direction 17.3 kilometers and in east-west direction 26.2 kilometers. 947 people lived in the municipality (as of January 1, 2019) on an area of ​​around 249 square kilometers. The highest point was the 1495 meter high Garretind . The municipality number was 1526.

Neighboring municipalities were Norddal, Ørskog , Rauma , Stranda , Sykkylven and Vestnes .
