North German credit bank
The North German Credit Bank Aktiengesellschaft was a Bremer Bank.
The company was created on November 6, 1931 from the conversion of JF Schröder Bank KGaA , which had run into difficulties in July 1931 . The bank and department store Obernstrasse 2–12 in Bremen was the headquarters of the bank. There were branches in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Bückeburg, Delmenhorst, Detmold, Hamburg, Hoya, Nienburg, Vegesack, Verden and Wesermünde as well as branches in Kirchweyhe and Syke.
The bank was an important financier and from 1937 to 1941 a shareholder of the Deutsche Schiff- und Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft (Deschimag).
The Hamburg banking and trading house L. Behrens & Sons was “ Aryanized ” in 1938 during National Socialism . Norddeutsche Kreditbank-AG took over the part of the company that handled the banking business. On the basis of the bizzone law , the bank had to part with its Hamburg branch ( Alter Wall 32–36) after the Second World War . This was taken over by the Hamburg Berenberg Bank . In return, the Norddeutsche Kreditbank received a 40 percent stake in Bankhaus Berenberg.
Members of the bank's supervisory board included the Bremen merchants Karl Lindemann (1931–1945 and after 1959), Hans Erling , August Dubbers , Eduard Nebelthau and Fritz Tecklenborg . Further members of the supervisory board were Otto Flohr , Richard Duckwitz , and Hans Christoph Freiherr Tucher von Simmelsdorf .
In 1973 the merger took place (the main shareholder at that time was Norddeutsche Landesbank with 84 percent ) with Allgemeine Deutsche Credit-Anstalt (ADCA for short) and from then on operated under the name ADCA-Bank AG Allgemeine Deutsche Credit-Anstalt. In 1983 the money house was taken over by the Rabobank Group. The 22 branches in Bremen, Bremerhaven, Delmenhorst and Oldenburg were sold to various credit institutions.
