The Norderneyer Badezeitung is an East Frisian daily newspaper for the city and the island of Norderney . It is published Monday through Saturday in Berlin format by SKN Druck und Verlag GmbH from the north. The sold circulation is 833 copies, a decrease of 56.9 percent since 1998.

history

The Ostfriesische Kurier (OK) was first published in 1867 by the entrepreneur Dietrich Gerhard Soltau . 1868 followed with the Norderneyer bath newspaper on Norderney, the first newspaper on a North Sea island. In 1922, Soltau's company was separated by dividing inheritance among the children. The Norderneyer bath newspaper received the Otto G. Soltau . The Norderneyer Badezeitung separated from its sister publication, the Ostfriesischer Kurier, which appears in the Soltau Kurier Norden (SKN), and became independent. The newspaper has a self-produced local section, the national cover pages are purchased from the Nordwest-Zeitung in Oldenburg . In October 2008, Dieter Soltau, publisher of Norderneyer Badezeitung and grandson of Otto G. Soltau, announced that the newspaper group Ostfriesland (ZGO) in Leer would buy the previously completely independent paper . The Federal Cartel Office approved the purchase on October 16, 2008.

On July 1, 2011, the newspaper was taken over by Christian Basse, owner of Ostfriesischer Kurier and SKN Druck und Verlag GmbH & Co. in Norden . Thus, after 89 years, the two newspapers were reunited in one publishing house. The publisher Christian Basse is the son of Oberkirchenrat Ottokar Basse and his wife, the publisher Ursula Basse-Soltau and thus the fifth generation of publishers since the publishing house was founded in 1867. The new branch of the Ostfriesischer Kurier was set up in Wilhelmstrasse opposite the Norderneyer Thalassozentrum . Until February of 2004, was bathing newspaper on an old MAN - rotary printing press from 1922 printed. The Norderneyer bath newspaper has lost a lot of its circulation in recent years . The number of copies sold has fallen by an average of 5.7% per year over the past 10 years. Last year it decreased by 4.2%. It is currently 833 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 88.1 percent.
