Nordlumo is a funeral doom band founded in 2015 .

history

The anonymous project Nordlumo was supposedly founded by a person who calls himself Nordmad. According to the webzine Concreteweb, the project is based in Severomorsk and is maintained by a musician with the first name Evgenyi. On the official Bandcamp presence of the project, the Murmansk region is specified as the home location .

In 2017 the debut album Embraced by Eternal Night was released via Endless Winter . International reviewers rated the album on average as a "solid release" in the genre, to laudatory assessments, it was an "untouchable debut, equipped with everything fans of Funeral Doom need" and a release of "high quality". Here the band turns out to be "a project that has considerable potential".

style

The music of Northern Lumo is described as "solid, but not very adventurous" Funeral Doom . In the genre, the music can be assigned to the “sublime melodic end of the spectrum”. Ian Morrissey describes the music for Doom-Metal.com as a stereotypical variant of Russian funeral doom, "with strange solos , whispered vocals", atmospheric keyboard arrangements and guitar runs as well as deep growling . For a classifying comparison, the review written for Concreteweb refers to the genre interpreters Colosseum , Abysmal Growls of Despair , My Shameful , Shape of Despair , Monolithhe , Grimirg and Evoken .
