My Shameful was a Finnish funeral and death doom band that was formed in 1999 and disbanded in 2015.

history

The band was founded in 1999 by Sami Rautio and Harri Jussila. The following year both released the first three demos, using a drum computer . The first two demos were released in 2000, while the third was released as an EP on the Italian label Nocturnal Music in 2001 . As a result, the band reached a contract with Firebox Records . The debut album Of All the Wrong Things was then recorded, with Rautio being the only remaining member of the band at the time. The album was released in 2003. The second album … of Dust followed in 2004, with Rautio still being the only band member. After the album was released, drummer Mark Napier, guitarist Mario Hahn and bassist Twist joined the cast. In 2005 the band held nine gigs, one in Prague and one in Berlin . The group held the last concert of the year together with Debris Inc. in Würzburg . The next album, The Return to Nothing, followed in 2006 . In 2007 the band played at the Berlin Popkomm and the Way of Darkness Festival in Bamberg . In 2008 and 2013 the albums Descend and Penance followed. In October 2015, the band announced their breakup.

style

On … of Dust , according to Melanie Aschenbrenner from Metal Hammer , the band was able to break away from the earlier My Dying Bride . The music is usually very slow and the riffs are repetitive. According to Christian Hector from Metal Hammer , the band on The Return to Nothing has now completely slowed down, whereas the band on … of Dust would have increased it occasionally. The album is also more monotonous and extreme than its two predecessors. The growling is accompanied by a hoarse screeching and occasional clear vocals are used. No keyboards were used on the album. Hector assigned the album to the Funeral Doom .
