Firebox Records was a record label from Finland , founded in 2001 by Rami Hippi and closed in 2013 , which mainly signed bands from the Gothic Metal as well as Death and Funeral Doom styles . Hippi claims that he founded the label because it was difficult to buy and sell metal albums in Finland and he did not like the country's musical landscape in 2001.

The best-known representatives included Dauntless , Swallow the Sun , Misery Inc. , Saturnus and Scent of Flesh . Firebox Records was based in Seinäjoki , South Ostrobothnia . The label's publications were mostly available as compact discs in the label's own online shop. The shop still exists despite the abandonment of the label. As a label, Firebox has maintained the sub-label Firedoom Music since 2004, Roihu Records since 2005 and Off Records Finland since 2007. Firedoom also devoted itself to various doom metal bands, especially death doom performers, after Firebox also increasingly developed other types of metal such as thrash metal and dedicated to melodic death metal . Roihu Records, however, put an emphasis on black and dark metal . Off Records specialized in hardcore punk . The activities of the sub-label were also discontinued in 2013.
