Ablaze in Hatred is a Finnish funeral and death doom band from Helsinki that was formed in 2004.
history
The band was founded in 2004 by friends Juhani Sanna (electric guitar) and Mika Ikonen (electric guitar, vocals). In autumn, the writing of the songs for a first demo began. At the beginning of 2005 these were ready to be recorded. For this purpose, Antti Hakkala joined as drummer and Miska Lehtivuori as bass player in the spring. In August the band finally went into the studio to record the demo Closure of Life at Noisecamp Studios in Turku with producer Kari Nieminen . The publication took place in September. In October the band signed a recording deal with Firebox Records . After the debut album Deceptive Awareness was recorded in June 2006 , it was released on the Firedoom Music sub-label in early October . It was the last Firebox Records album to be distributed in Germany . In June 2008 the second album The Quietude Plains was recorded again in the Noisecamp Studios with Kari Nieminen. The release took place in 2009, again with Firedoom Music.
style
Christian Hector from Metal Hammer compared the band in his review of Deceptive Awareness with Shape of Despair , as "they stand for the melancholic-melodic side of funeral and death doom". The vocals and guitar melodies at Ablaze in Hatred are only second class compared to Shape of Despair. DemonDust from metalrage.com also assigned the band to Funeral and Death Doom. The music sounds depressive and atmospheric, using heavy, but also melodic riffs . The group also incorporated atmospheric keyboard sounds and growls . The band can be compared to Draconian , Swallow the Sun , Katatonia and My Dying Bride . However, one misses an independent sound on the album. David Perri wrote in The Collector's Guide of Heavy Metal Volume 4: The '00s about The Quietude Plains that Doom Metal can be heard in the style of My Dying Bride, but with growling. The music embodies loneliness, with the band playing the music competently.
