- in the narrower sense ( Swedish Norrland ) the historical part of the country , with Övre Norrland ('Oberes Nordland', Norrbottens län and Västerbottens län 'West and North soils') and Nedre Norrland ('Nieder-Nordland', Jämtlands län , Västernorrlands län and Gävleborgs län ), i.e. to the north of Lake Siljan and along the Dalälven
- in the broader sense (Swedish Norra Sverige ) all the way north to almost the Skagerrak , in the line from the lower Dalälven over Lake Vänern, i.e. the mountain and hill country of the Scandinavian Mountains (Skanden)
Depending on the situation , you can go to southern , central and northern Sweden (parts of the country from south to north), or southern, eastern and northern Sweden ( götalandische , Svealandische plains, Skanden), or south, east, west and north Sweden (an the watersheds of the south), or just south and north Sweden (countries in the south-east and Scandinavia).

- Norra Mellansverige (SE31 'North- Central Sweden ') with Värmlands (SE311), Dalarnas (SE312) and Gävleborgs län (SE313)
- Mellersta Norrland (SE32 'Central Northern Sweden') with Västernorrlands (SE321), and Jämtlands län (SE322)
- Övre Norrland (SE33, 'Upper Northern Sweden') with Västerbottens (SE331) and Norrbottens län (SE332)
