Noriko Sasaki ( Japanese 佐 々 木 倫 子 , Sasaki Noriko ; born October 7, 1961 in Asahikawa , Hokkaidō , Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist .

biography

Sasaki published her first work as a professional comic artist in 1980 with the short story Apron Complex in a summer special edition of the manga magazine Hana to Yume . This was followed by other short stories and short manga series for the Hakusensha publishing house, which were also published in books.

The illustrator achieved great success with the approximately 2100 page manga series Dōbutsu no Oisha-san (translated "The Veterinarian"), which was published from 1988 to 1993 in 119 individual chapters in Hana to Yume and then in twelve books. These books sold over twenty million times in Japan, making the comic, which was also implemented as a live television series, one of the most successful mangas for girls ( Shōjo ) in the 1980s. In Dobutsu no Oisha-san is about the daily lives of students at a University of Veterinary Medicine.

After the completion of Dōbutsu no Oisha-san , Sasaki switched to the Shōgakukan publishing house and then worked for this on work for a male, adult readership ( his own ). In Otanku Nurse , which she created for Big Comic Spirits magazine from 1995 to 1998 , she describes a clumsy nurse. The manga series Heaven? is about the owner of a French restaurant that is placed in a cemetery. For the alternative magazine Ikki Sasaki drew Tsukidate no Satsujin from 2005 to 2006 based on a story by Yukito Ayatsuji .
