Northern California Folk-Rock Festival

The Northern California Folk-Rock Festival was a music festival held twice in San José, California . The event was organized by Bob Blodgett and the venue was Family Park in the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. The posters were designed by Linda Segul.

Northern California Folk-Rock Festival 1968

The first of the two festivals took place on May 18 and 19, 1968. The program included Country Joe and the Fish , The Animals , Jefferson Airplane , The Doors , Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin , The Youngbloods , The Electric Flag , Kaleidoscope , Taj Mahal and Ravi Shankar . Although not mentioned in the program, there was also an appearance by the Grateful Dead .

Northern California Folk-Rock Festival 1969

The second and final edition of the festival followed from May 23 to 25, 1969. The program included The Jimi Hendrix Experience , Jefferson Airplane , The Chambers Brothers , Led Zeppelin , Eric Burdon , Spirit , Canned Heat , Buffy Sainte-Marie , The Youngbloods , Steve Miller , Chuck Berry , Muddy Waters , Taj Mahal , Noel Redding , Lee Michaels , Blues Image , Santana , Aum , Elvin Bishop , Poco , People! , Linn County , The Loading Zone , Sweet Linda Divine , Cat Mother , Doc Watson & New Lost City Ramblers, and Sable.
