Northwest Passage is an American western series produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer between 1958 and 1959 .

The series is loosely based on the life of the historical figure of British Major Robert Rogers in the time of the Seven Years 'War in North America between 1756 and 1763. Rogers called the Rogers' Rangers called light infantry unit into being that the military intelligence was used. One of their jobs was to find the eponymous Northwest Passage , a waterway believed to be in North America that connects the Pacific and Atlantic . At Rogers' side are the Native American trackers Sergeant Hunk Marriner and Ensign Langdon Towne. In addition to the search for the Northwest Passage, the Rangers repeatedly get into fights with the Indians and the French .

The television series is based on the 1940 film of the same name , which in turn is based on the novel of the same name by Kenneth Roberts . In the television adaptation took Keith Larsen 's role Spencer Tracy , Buddy Ebsen played the role of Walter Brennan and Don Burnett presented the role of Robert Young is. Among the guest stars included, among other things, Patrick Macnee , Angie Dickinson and Pernell Roberts .
Between 1959 and 1961, MGM cut three full-length episodes each, bringing in Frontier Rangers , Mission of Danger, and Fury River, three Feature films in the cinema.
