Novopetriwka ( Ukrainian Новопетрівка ; Russian Новопетровка Novopetrowka ) is a village in the east of the Ukrainian Oblast Mykolaiv with about 1700 inhabitants (2001).
The village, founded in 1862 by settlers from the province of Kherson and retired soldiers from the provinces of Voronezh, Simbirsk and Courland, had a total of 1,029 inhabitants in 1891. Between August 18, 1941 and March 13, 1944, the village was occupied by the Wehrmacht . The 1970 census found a population of 2,229 people.
Until September 2018, Novopetrivka was the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the northwest of Snihuriwka Raion , to which the northern village of Ljubyne ( Любине , ⊙ ) with about 120 inhabitants belonged. Since then, it has been the most populous village in the newly established Shyroke Territorial Community ( Широківська сільська громада Schyrokiwska silska hromada ).
The village is located at an altitude of 44 m on the bank of the Wervchyna ( Веревчина ), a 115 km long right tributary of the Dnepr estuary Koschowa ( Кошова ), 7 km south of the community center Tscherwona Dolyna ( Червона Долина ), 14 km from the center of Rajon Snihuriwka and 58 km east of Mykolaiv Oblast Center .
In the north of the village there is a train station on the Mykolaiv – Snihuriwka line.
